A Different Kind of Murder-Mystery
One by one the residents of Torrent are disappearing. Corporal Laine Martin cannot figure out ‘the where’, never mind ‘the why’.
This novel has been giving me no end of grief. I began Torrent a couple of years ago and have run into numerous road blocks. It is my first attempt at a murder-mystery. I have very much enjoyed traveling this new writing path. However, I think I need to lose some of the complexity of it. If, as its author, am having a difficult time following the narrative arc, I can only imagine what it would be like for the reader.
A quick synopsis for you: The town of Torrent Alberta has become the focal point of the nation as residence keep disappearing. Local RCMP corporal Laine Martin leads the investigation, while her sexist misogynist boss, Mark Spencer, seems to be do his best to keep her from doing hers.
As more and more residents go missing the town is becoming more than a little restless. Complicating the matter is Laine’s new affections for the towns new doctor, who somehow seems to be everywhere. . . and then nowhere.
The cast of characters is as wide and diverse as the people who have gone missing. There is no seeming commonality among those who disappear–no pattern. And perhaps that is the pattern.
